Brief History of JMT
Jack Moffat Trust was conceived and established in the year 2000 by Mr Boyd and Mrs Joyce Besa Phiri, inspired by the late Jack Moffat Besa, father to Mrs Joyce Besa Phiri, who passed away on 09 March 1998 at 74 years of age. Jack Moffat Besa was himself a career teacher and had passion for community care and support. In his time he taught many notable figures including the second republican president, Dr Frederick Titus Jacob Chiluba. Beginning by simply opening a nursery school in their living room for children in the neighbourhood, the Phiri’s commenced the undertaking which is now Jack Moffat Trust (JMT). Over the years, the project has expanded by incorporating various other aspects, but its main objective remains that of provision of quality education and mitigation of the impact of HIV/AIDS and poverty through sensitization campaigns and material support programs
